Whatnot OBS setup for card breaks

Every overlay you need on your Whatnot card break, running from a browser-source URL. No video capture, no screen-share — the overlays read Whatnot's socket directly and update per sale, bid, hit, and follow.

What you need

  • OBS Studio v30 or later (free)
  • Breakr extension installed in Chrome
  • Breakr account signed in with your Whatnot connected
  • A second monitor is nice but not required

Pre-stream countdown with your channel branding, music, and a "live in 00:00" timer.

Step by step

Install the Breakr extension

From the Chrome Web Store. Sign in with the Google or Discord account you use for Breakr. The extension connects to your channel automatically.

Open the OBS overlay URLs

Breakr's connections page lists one URL per overlay — scoreboard, hit alerts, chat ticker, countdown. Each is a browser-source URL unique to your channel.

Add each as a browser source in OBS

Right-click Sources, Add → Browser. Paste the URL, set width 1920 and height 1080, check "Shutdown source when not visible" so inactive overlays stop talking to the socket.

Arrange the layer stack

Camera on bottom. Scoreboard middle-left. Hit alert full-screen on top (invisible until an alert fires). Chat ticker along the bottom.

Test it

Open /rehearsal in a browser. Fire a test sale, a test bid, a test hit. Each should trigger the right overlay. If nothing fires, re-check the browser source URL and make sure the extension pill at the top of your Whatnot tab shows green.

Go live

Open your Whatnot show in Chrome with the extension. The scoreboard updates per bid, the hit alert fires on every hit you log, the chat ticker scrolls new followers and reward redemptions.

Common gotchas

  • Browser source not updating. Right-click the source, Interact, F5 the preview. If it still does not update, your extension lost the Whatnot tab — click the Breakr pill at the top of Whatnot.
  • Hit alerts fire twice. You added the alert source to two scenes. Keep it on one scene or share one browser source across scenes using "Deinterlacing: None" and "Shutdown when not visible" off.
  • Chat ticker is empty. Breakr reads your Whatnot chat socket — if your tab is backgrounded, Chrome throttles the socket. Keep the Whatnot tab visible or pinned.
