Edit text templates
Author the show-note, product-title, product-description, and chat-announcement templates.
Where to edit
Open /templates. Templates are grouped by kind. Each kind has a declared list of variable slots that make sense for it. The editor shows a live preview using sample data.
The four template kinds
- Show note — description you paste into Whatnot when you schedule a show. Keep it under 500 chars for the Whatnot title screen.
- Product title — the Buy-It-Now listing title Breakr's queue copies to clipboard. Keep it under 120 chars so it reads on mobile.
- Product description — the Buy-It-Now listing description. Where the detailed reward explanation goes.
- Chat announcement — the message your extension posts to Whatnot chat when a viewer redeems. Keep it to one line.
Variable slots
Each slot renders as the real value at the call site. A slot that is not supplied stays literal so a typo in a template becomes visible instead of silently blanking.
{username}— the viewer's Whatnot username (no@){itemName}— the shop item's name{points}— the shop item's cost in points{channelName}— your Breakr tenant name{tenantSlug}— your Breakr tenant slug, used forbreakr.tv/r/<slug>links{channelSignature}— the sticky block set in rewards settings. Edit it in one place; every template that references it picks it up.
Which slots work in which kind: show-note supports {channelName}, {tenantSlug}, {channelSignature}. Product-title supports {username}, {itemName}, {channelName}. Product-description and chat-announcement support all of the above.
Shipped defaults
Every new tenant gets a complete template set out of the box:
- Reward Fulfillment show note — pre-written description for your periodic fulfillment shows.
- Reserved reward title —
RESERVED @{username} — {itemName} — DO NOT BUY. - Reserved reward description — explains the rewards program, routes rogue buyers to the signature.
- Redemption callout —
@{username} just redeemed {itemName} for {points} points. {channelSignature}.
Edit the defaults instead of adding duplicates. Breakr's queue copy buttons read the first template of each kind, so changes propagate instantly.
Preview and copy
The editor shows a preview rendered with sample data (username = pcooky, itemName = Reserved Pokemon ETB, points = 2000). Click Copy preview to put the rendered text on your clipboard — useful when you want to paste a draft into Whatnot's title field to see how it wraps.
