Configure viewer rewards

Set point rates for bidding, chat, watch time, and the engagement bonus.

Where to configure

Open /rewards-settings. The page groups all knobs by scoring strategy. Changes take effect for new events only — points already on the ledger stay unchanged.

Master switches

  • Rewards enabled — the overall kill switch. Off by default on a free plan; flip on to start scoring events. Requires a paid plan.
  • Public page enabled — controls whether breakr.tv/r/<your-slug> is live. Turn off to pause your public shop without wiping the ledger.
  • Require prior purchase — gate on redemption. When on, a viewer must have at least one past Whatnot sale on your channel before they can spend points. Off by default; see reserved-listing pattern.

Bidding

  • Points per unique bid — awarded once per viewer per product per show. Default 1. Raise to incentivize bid participation.
  • Points per $1 of bid — optional scaling by bid amount. Default 0. Set to a non-zero value when you want whales rewarded proportionally.

Watch time

  • Points per full minute — one grant per 60 seconds of continuous presence. Default 1.
  • Idle grace (seconds) — a gap larger than this starts a new session. Default 60. The viewer keeps the minutes they earned in the prior session.

Chat

  • Points per scored message — base amount at the full rate. Default 1.
  • Full-rate cap per show — full rate until this many scored messages. Default 20. Protects against chat-spam farming.
  • Half-rate cap per show — scoring stops after this many total scored messages. Default 40. Must be at least the full-rate cap.
  • Minimum gap (seconds) — a message closer than this to the last scored one earns nothing. Default 3.

Engagement bonus

A one-time per-show bonus when the viewer passes both thresholds. Rewards the real audience.

  • Bonus amount — set to 0 to turn the bonus off. Default 50.
  • Chat messages needed — at the full rate. Default 5.
  • Unique products bid on — products the viewer scored a bid award on this show. Default 1.

Account link

  • Link-code prefix — optional. Viewer types this plus the code. Example: BRK turns the link command into !link BRK-ABC123. Default empty.

Channel signature

A one or two line block that templates can insert via the {channelSignature} slot. Edit it in one place to update every chat announcement and product description that references it. Default: Earn and spend points on this channel: breakr.tv/r/<your-slug>.

Default rates we ship with

These defaults work for a small-to-medium channel. Adjust by audience behavior after a few shows:

  • 1 point per bid (unique product), 1 point per minute watched, 1 point per chat message (first 20)
  • No engagement bonus by default (set to 0) — turn on when you want to flag active viewers
  • No scaling by bid amount — turn on if you want whales rewarded proportionally
